Grandma's D.I.Y. Afternoon Fun

Being a Grandmother (or Augie as I am called) is one of the biggest blessings of my life!

Whether you are Grandma, Granny, Nanny, Mimi, Memaw, or an Augie you know what it takes to be that special someone that can make magic happen.  We know hugs and kisses are the cure all, cookies are a must have at every visit, and nothing is more important than the time we spend playing with those precious grandchildren when they come visit.

I remember my own special visits with my Memaw, sitting on her lap as she scraped an apple for me, sitting at her feet as she sewed and I was allowed to manage the pins and pin cushion, I felt so special!  I also remember how she would take a towel, roll it up and tie it with a piece of scrap fabric, she would then draw eyes, a nose, and mouth on it making me an instant baby to carry around.  Most awesome days of my childhood for sure!

Now that I am an Augie to 3 grandchildren of my own, I try to make their visits just as memorable and special.  We bake cookies, play dress up, build sheet forts, and they LOVE to help me in the Bags By Hags sewing shop!  This past week they came up for a short unplanned visit, we needed some magic and we needed it quick, so I came up with this:

You must be thinking what in the world?  Well this is a magic Pirate Telescope!  You can locate all the scallywags on the island and all the buried treasure!
To make this very special item you need:

1 empty paper towel roll
Aluminum Foil
Tape
Stickers to decorate
Lots of imagination

It took us just a few minutes to have our Pirate Telescope made and then we were ready!  We hid behind chairs, couches, and doors, we ran yelling scallywag, scallywag, and we discovered buried treasure.
I discovered the best treasure, the treasure of their laughter!

You don't need to buy every toy advertised on TV, all this will cost you is a little imagination and a little of your time.  You will end up with PRICELESS Memories!
